Very poor product

I bought this item as a replacement for my previous beard trimmer that had lasted for years. However, due to the poor quality of blade cutting and slow speed, I am constantly frustrated by the Braun BT5010. I have finally given up on it and will look to find a better one to replace it - which shouldn't be too hard!

No, I do not recommend this product.

A close shave

After receiving this product from Braun for review I opened the packaging (about double what was actually required) and found a 2-pin plug,Sadly that ment it couldn't be charged at work, but upon returning home, and finding two adaptors because the plug didn't stay in the first, I put the trimmer on charge and return later.Wanting to give the trimmer a full trial run, I started off on my chin, using the shortest setting with the gaurd in place gave a short, and incredibly comfortable shave, I've used alot of trimmers and shavers over the years, and many have felt uncomfortable when used close to the skin, but this was surprisingly smooth.Next I tried it on my head, short hair, made shorter. While it takes a while to do your whole head, again it gave a good clean shave with only having to re-touch a few areas with the length much longer. Finally the ultimate test... down below..Anyone who's tried will know it's not an easy task, and rarely leaves you without a nick, snagged skin or shavers rash. But the braun trimmer wasn't just good, it was perfect.Even on the softest, wrinkly skin there was no discomfort at all, and it gave a short 'BIC like' shave in no time at all.I know many won't want to use it down below, but for those that do, or maybe have very delicate, soft or wrinkly skin. You'll be pleased to know this is the most comfortable trim I've had, and this even includes the shortest 'without the gaird' setting.Overall 4 stars...At least having an option of a 3 pin plug would have given it 5 stars. Not everyone has a shaver socket. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun Beard Brilliance

First of all thanks to Braun for sending me a free beard trimmer via BzzAgent to test out and review.I've had the trimmer now for a few weeks now so I'm in a better place for writing a proper review rather than just a first impression. My first impressions were very good but throughout the month that I've had the trimmer I can only say that the more I use the trimmer the better my opinion. The unit is very solid and sturdy, the settings are precise and the length locking function is great for peace of mind. The trimmer is extremely precise, in a couple of minutes I can achieve a great finish and don't end up endlessly going over the same spot at different angles trying to get stray hairs. The battery life is excellent and coupled with the run from mains functionality and included cables you aren't likely to get caught out with a dead battery any time soon.I've checked the actual price of the trimmer on a few different websites and would have been more than happy to pay the asked rate for this fantastic product. If I could give 6 stars out of 5 I wouldn't hesitate [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

GREAT PRODUCT!!

I have just tested the new braun beard trimmer, it's basic design allows for simple use and easy to clean.I suffer from extremely sensitive skin, but to my joy I found that the shave is so soft and smooth I will have no problems using the beard trimmer. The only drawback is that it comes without a plug adapter, so unless you have shaver sockets in your house, an adapter will need to be purchased to recharge.Overall, I am very impressed and would highly recommend the product :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Smooth operator

I got to try the bt 5010 beard trimmer from Braun for free as part of the programme. I was interested to take part in the programme as have thought about getting a trimmer before. I do not have much of a beard like the profile photo but do have some sideburns and a moustache also. The box looks sleek and very manly, i had thought it would need charging before use so expected to wait a couple of hours for it to charge delighted to see it was already charged and ready to use. I had a look at The instructions booklet and normally you see a diagram of The features and arrows pointing to The features , it as right at the front almost missed it as was near another languages instructions. I went to use it before having a bath and it was easy to use it glided along the contour of my face and left my face smooth with a little stubble which I intended to leave. The brush is handy to clean after you have had a shave. I have not used all the features yet on the beard trimmer but will use it again when my facial hair is bigger and thicker. Normally i would have used a electric shaver or razor but this did the job nice and quick. A great item to be able to review and no doubt will get a lot of use out of it. Not for a rush cut

It started off well. Well packaged, neat and tidy and with clear instructions (in a multitude of languages). The BT5010 trimmer (which I aquired free from Braun) required several hours of charging before being ready to use. The first glitch I found was here, where my red/green colour blindness made it difficult to detect whether it was fully charged or still charging. However I encountered no battery problems since, so I can't really complain about this.I will happily admit I do not have the longest beard usually, however when I first tried to use the trimmer it was far longer than the minimum length this device is meant to cope with. Therefore I was surprised when I started using it to discover the trimmer was actually trimming very little off. Many hairs were 'escaping' through the grating, and each strip of hair required several goes to be able to completely remove the excess lengths. As a curiosity - I thought I'd try it on longer hair, namely my 'really should have cut it last month' head (sporting quite an over-eager fringe by this point). Similar story here - it was awkward to hold and didn't do the job nearly as well as any other trimmer I had used before.I can't comment on long beards, however if you are a gent with merely substantial stubble, this almost certainly won't be the best on the market for you. It will do the job, but only after hacking away at your chin for a few minutes to get the desired result.I have previously used Braun for many products and am sure I will do again in the future, but this particular one will definitely not be overused. A tiny bit rough round the edges

I was very excited when I got the email to say Braun were sending me this product to try for free. When I first opened the packaging, this felt like a premium product, and I wasn't too disappointed. With a brand like Braun, I know what I am getting, and that is high quality. This was no different: simple to operate, with good results.I would like the option to have a digital length display, but that is a personal preference, and would not deter me from recommending it to friends/family.The results were great, and I have no complaints, just little niggles. I found the charger wire to slightly 'wobble' and not feel as secure as it should be, but that seems to happen with every grooming product.Overall, I am very happy with it, and would recommend it to anyone. Simple and effective

Having owned a few beard trimmers in the past from other brands, I was happy to try out the BT5010, which I received free from Braun. My main two issues with similar models are that the increments aren't small enough to be precise when cutting, and the combs usually bend and bow if put under even a small amount of pressure, leading to an uneven cut.The BT5010 is different in that the dial for length selection has very fine increments and the comb is very sturdy, giving a controlled precise cut. The lifetime sharp self sharpening blades sound very handy, though time can only tell with that one.Very good product, once again thanks to Braun for the free product to try. Braun Beard Trimmer no match for Babyliss

I couldn’t wait for this trimmer to arrive. Firstly because I was amazed to be able to try one completely free of charge, but mainly because the timing was impeccable given that my trusty Babyliss stubble trimmer died only 1 week before. What better time to try a different brand!I know the Braun 5010 is modeled as a beard trimmer and not a stubble trimmer. I usually keep my beard somewhere between stubble and bush and so the shaver may not have been perfect for this length and appears more suited to longer beard types. Initial inspections reveal what feels to be a sturdy trimmer, well weighted and easy to hold and use. The attachments and peripheries however feel decidedly cheap. The clip on dial-adjusted length guide is flimsy at best and I’m sure wouldn’t survive a fall. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the supposed length settings as in all honesty once used the length of my beard appeared different from one section to another. The charger suffers too from apparent budget limits. The cord feels like it has been designed to biodegrade within a month of opening and certainly doesn’t look like it will survive for the life of the shaver. The (one and only) good point: Price. The unit has been introduced into an already saturated market, but aimed at the lowerend and so im sure will be competitive and bought on mass. Personally after spending some time with it, the cheapness begins to shine through and I’d look to pay an extra £10 for a more quality product. The bad point(s):overall quality and substandard performance. As I say I am used to using the Babyliss istubble to trim by beard. This device is smaller than the Braun, more ergonomically designed and quicker to use. The istubble also has a spring loaded cutting blade, meaning it swivels and turns with the contours of your face to give a uniform length of hair. This is the biggest downside to the Braun. The cutting unit is fixed in place and so you end up with longer hairs around the angle of your jaw that you just can’t seem to get to. I ended up going over the same areas repeatedly but still ended up looking like I’d never shaved before.Overall if price is the main factor in deciding which product to buy, go for the Braun. If however you are looking to buy an item that lasts and actually delivers a trim that allows you to be seen in public, spend a bit extra and seek out the competition. Less Hobo more Hipster everyday

Note: I received the Beard Trimmer for free from Braun , the opinion of the product is my own personal viewOk so first things first as a beardy type I have used a few different trimmers over the past few years and as it stands this will be the unit I will be using from now on, that's not to say it's perfect but it is indeed very very good.Pros:- many points of adjustment available (20) at 0.5mm intervals- removable guardCons:- although there are many points of adjustment it doesn't extend far enough for my level of beardy this however is not such a big deal as the guard level can be removed (just requires a steady hand else you may end up with no beard)Bonus points:This is a very low noise unit compared to all the others I have tried and the usage time on a full charge is really great.
