FAQs

Braun Series 7 FAQs

What's the difference between foil and rotary shavers?
Rotary shavers are designed to work with cyclical movements while Braun foil shavers are designed to work with efficient sideways movements on the skin giving perfect control and precision. The foils protect the skin from irritation and are specifically designed to deliver the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

Why would I need a cleaning center when I can clean my Series 7 shaver under water?
Our tests show that cleaning your shaver with a Clean&Charge Station is 10 times more hygienic than cleaning it under the tap. On top it‘s more convenient, i.e. at the touch of a button your shaver is cleaned, charged, lubricated and dried automatically.

I already have a cleaning center from my previous Braun shaver (Pulsonic or Syncro). Can I use it with the new Series 7 shaver?
No, the Series 7 cleaning center is the ultimate model from the Braun Clean&Charge line and can‘t be used with previous models. The latest cleaning center provides you with the best technology available in a cleaning center.

How often do I need to exchange the cleaning center refill cartridge?
If you clean your shaver with the cleaning center twice a week, you will only need to replace the refill cartridge every 2 to 3 months to experience a shaver like new, every day. The save & subscribe option from Amazon allows you to subscribe for a regular home delivery and at the same time save 10% on the price of the Clean&Charge refill. You don‘t have to think about it and always have a Clean&Charge refill available when you need it.

Do you have any recommendation on how to shave with an electric foil shaver?
We recommend that you shave before you take a shower. After a few days without shaving, for example during the weekend, you should trim your stubble before you shave. Stretch the skin and shave against the direction of beard growth. Hold the shaver at a right angle (90°) to your skin. Keep the pressure even to achieve the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

How often do I need to change the shaver head?
We recommend replacing all cutter parts every 18 months. We included a replacement part indicator in the display to ensure you know when to exchange the cutter parts, in order for your shaver to always stay at 100% performance.

Does the battery have a memory effect as we know it from cell phone or laptops?
No, the Series 7 shavers use a Li-ion battery which has no memory effect. You can recharge it whenever you want and it has a low self-discharge rate (vs. NiMh batteries). Li-Ion batteries are the most powerful and long-lasting batteries available for Braun shavers.

Do the Braun Series 7 shavers have a warranty? How long is it?
All Braun shavers come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

Not The Cutting Edge

It's been a while since I regularly used an electric razor so receiving this from Braun for free intrigued me, especially as it is so much more developed than my previous tool. I tend to be clean shaven and use a traditional razor and it is that against which I have benchmarked the Braun. The results however have disappointed me. Whilst it gives great results on the cheeks and under the nose, beneath the jaw line and on the chin it is inadequate, leaving an uneven finish which no amount of skin stretching was able to address. To have a comprehensive range of settings is an obvious strong point but unfortunately no combination could achieve the results I seek. I found myself spending more time using the Braun, which in theory should be a time saving device, than my old fashioned razor. I achieved the same results with both wet and dry shaving. The cleaning well, to me, is a curiosity rather than a necessity. Whilst I'm sure it delivers top notch hygiene results, the cynic in me views it as an ongoing revenue stream (to renew the alcohol pods) against a product that is infrequently purchased otherwise. The build quality is exceptional, a great weight and balance and the travel case provided is a sturdy protector. In all, I really wanted to like this product but I will not be replacing my razor with this Braun. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great shaver with one slight disappointment

The first thing I noticed about the Braun Series 7 Shaver was how smart it looks - just how it appears on the box. If you're looking for a good-looking piece of kit then look no further. The shaver itself works very well as I'll go on to explain. I was also happy to learn it is bundled with a Clean&Charge Station (more on this later), a travel case and a cleaning brush. 'Almost' everything you need...According to the packaging, Braun‘s Sonic technology reads and adapts to your beard - I found this to be pretty accurate and was impressed. I had a fair bit of stubble when I first used it and it was certainly the best shave I'd have with an electric shaver. Ordinarily I'd have to trim it with a beard trimmer first or simply wet shave. The quality in the Series 7 must be that the shaver senses the density of the beard and provides extra power where needed - I'd have to agree with that. The Clean&Charge station is a nice piece of kit. With the touch of a button, it hygienically cleans and lubricates your shaver - the manual almost makes this sound difficult but it really is very easy to use and such a good idea to include it in the charging station. I'm not aware of any other shaver that has this functionality, and I guess this is certainly one of the reasons why the Series 7 is a premium product. So why 'almost everything you need'? Well, if I had one criticism it's the fact that the shaver does not come with a 3-point plug (or USB plug). Surely it can't be much to ask of a premium product - perhaps the USB would be better as it was make it easier to transport the shaver and could be used abroad without an adaptor. Of course it does have a two-point plug that can be used in sockets suitable for shavers but this isn't suitable if you don't have one in your bathroom. I had to buy a separate adaptor and even then it wasn't a perfect fit, though did charge the shaver.Overall I'd recommend this product for those who want an electric shaver - I don't think there are many better out there. It's smooth and comfortable on short and even slightly longer stubble, the Clean&Charge Station is a great bonus. Just be aware that you might also need to buy a separate plug adaptor. Best by far, wet or dry

Over the years I have purchased a number of electric shavers only to decide if didn't like having my face ripped off in the process of shaving as they felt more like epilators pulling each hair one by one. I reverted to a manual shaver "one with a certain number of blades"Getting hold of this Braun has definitely meant shaving has become less of a chore. I often went to work looking like a bit of a vagabond, rough and ready to say the least. The handy to carry shaver in its wallet is easy to transport, and even just quick to shave before I leave for work in the morning. The shaver provides a comfortable shave, close cut with adjustable speed settings for those all more sensitive areas. It has an inlet to charge on the razor itself or can be charged easily on the refresh unit. Battery life is displayed on the bottom of the unit along with the hygiene score which highlights when the unit needs to be refreshed. I continued to use the unit until it was hygiene "empty" the shaver easily sits in the refresh/charging unit and the process of cleaning takes around 10 minutes for a full clean. All in all a fantastic product, so happy to have it in my possession. Once again braun have managed to hit the nail on the head. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A great electric shaver

I've used the razor a few times now and I really like it. It gets a nice close shave and was really quick as well. I didn't have to go over the same area too many times which I have found with other electric shavers. I like the fact the razor head moved with the shape of my face and I could increase or reduce the intensity to my suiting. Another really good feature is the was function. It meant the razor felt really nice a clean and new every time it's washed. All in all a really good razor. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great close shave

I've tried electric shavers in the past but always had problems with razor burn around my neck. As such I was slightly apprehensive about trying out this shaver. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This shaver has five shaving mode from sensitive to turbo. I was left with no razor burn or uncomfortable feeling when using the sensitive mode.It feels gentle on the skin and seems to effortlessly get a close smooth shave first time. There's no need to keep going back and forth over the same area. It can also be used in the wet which I prefer as it feels even smoother. With previous electric shavers I've always found they struggled to get a close finish where the contours of the face change. However, this isn't the case with the Braun 7898. The great design of the head means there were no areas left with that annoying stubbly feeling. With it being completely waterproof it's easy to keep clean by simply rinsing under running water and the clean and charge station automatically lubricates it. This is a fantastic feature especially if you shave daily like I do. And it only takes one hour to fully re-charge too.If you shave regularly as I do then this shaver is definitely worth the investment. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. A stubbley noisy sloshy disappointment

I've been a daily wet-shaver for 15 years. I've never owned an electric razor before, never even had a go with one, so I was really excited to be accepted on a Bzz campaign that was going to send me a fairy high-spec device, I expect that the Braun 7898cc is as good as any on the market at producing a close shave. The hygiene element of this product was interesting too.I was amazed at the size of the box when it arrived, really suprised that the product that came out of the box was so big. There's not a lot of spare room in my bathroom, never mind on a shelf close to a plug! But, I gave it a go, slotting the alcohol-smelling cartridge into the bottom of the round black cleaner, making a mess as it sloshed out onto the floor! There's no way I could store the cleaner out of the way in a cupboard if it's to spill out, especially as it would stink out the cupoard with the smell of the fluid. Then I turned my attention to the shaver, which by now had charged and was ready to use. Impresssed by the charge time, I switched it on. then switched it off and went to look for loose parts, surely it's not supposed to make that much noise? It seems it was all assembled and ready to go, I guess it's just a powerful device, so a bit noisier, too noisy to use in my house in the morning though; it would wake the baby and my wife. Then, dry, I put the razer to my one day's stubble. The head of the razor flexed across the contours of my face and was comfortable and easy to use I tried each of the settings from sensitive to turbo, but I couldn't tell much difference, except for the noise and vibration of the device. The result, in all settings, disappointing. My skin still felt rough, as if I had wet-shaved maybe 5 hours earlier. I did really like the flip out clipper however, it made a really fast neat job of my sideburns. I put the razor into the big black cleaner, and I think I followed Braun's intructions, but I'm afraid the instruction manual isn't very good and I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I'm pretty confident I got it right in the end. The razor came out clean and free of hair, so the cleaner did its job, but I'm not sure that a blast under the cold tap wouldn't have had the same effect. sonic boom

Ive always been a wet shaver. It's just close, you know?Ive never been keen on having any hair on my face, it just feels grubby and untidy.Ive always though electric shavers never really achieve that level of closeness. But that said, I havent used one in 15+ years.I was sceptical.Upon using it though, I was surpised at the level of closeness if offers. Initially my face feels extremely smooth, exactly as the wet shave does. However, within less time I can feel it growing back. It certainly doesnt last as long. But I suppose the beauty of it is that you can just use it on the go. So I can shave my face watching eastenders...I havent tested the hygeine/cleaning thing. It feels a bit clunky to set up. I can just empty out the head - that does the same thing right?Im sure its useful, and maybe required, but thats a chore that I dont want from my new svelt, mobile, little toy.Removes some of the convenience from it, somehow.Ill get round to it.Not sure what 'sonic technology' is/does. Maybe just a buzz word. A sales technique.Pros: mobile, quite close, battery lasts forever (only charged once since receiving)Cons: very vibratey on the hand, clunky cleaning system. To conclude, Ill be continuing to use it. Very good, but does it beat a wet shave?

When i first started shaving about ten years ago i used quite a poor quality electric shaver, which did the job but never felt very smooth or shaved as well as other electric shavers on the market. For the last six years i have been having a wet shave and really appreciating the closeness of the shave. However, they have their downsides by constantly having to replace the razors and i get the best shave in the shower, which means my shower time isn't very quick!I've been trialling the Braun 7 Series now for two weeks and i have to say it does seem a very premium product and lightyears distance away from the poor quality electric shaver i used all those years ago. The Braun 7 Series fits nicely in my hand and gets to work very efficiently on stubble and leaves my face feeling smooth and not a bit irritated. I don't have any red marks or stubble rash and the different closeness settings do make a difference when shaving around the chin and on my neck. The trimmer also works very well and has helped me to keep my sideburns in check. I fully charged the shaver when it arrived and it lasted me 6 decent shaves before needing charging again. On to the accessories now which includes a snazzy looking cleaning dock. Now for me, this took a while to work properly as every time i started it it would cut off quite quickly and i wasn't sure if it was a problem with my shaver adaptop (as the Braun only comes with a European 2-pin plug) or a problem with the power supply from the cleaning dock. On the times that it has worked it has cleaned it quite well making it smooth and smell a bit lemony. Overall i give this product 4/5 as the quality of the shave is very good but the cleaning dock hasn't worked as well for me as it should do.I am now using this product over my Giletter Razor and plan to continue doing so! Braun Series 7 7898cc - very impressed

Ive now been using this for the best part of 3 weeks. Day 1 the quick charge feature was super handy as I needed a shave and was close to leaving for work. 5min quick charge and I was able to quickly make myself presentable. This was first time using and I was quickly able to select a setting and off I went. Very comfy shave. I have also taken this to mainland Europe from uk, travelled in suitcase which im sure took some knocks and was all ok and seemed to charge fine on spanish current too. Even when Ive let my facial hair grow in a bit its trimmed it back no problem with zero snagging or pulling which has been an issue with other electric shavers Ive used. The cleaning function I expected to be a novelty actually works really well and is just pretty cool. The shaver itself feels like a quality bit of kit in hand and performs like it too. Ive always used hair clippers or electric shavers on sale presuming a shaver is a shaver. I was wrong. Highly highly recommend the Braun Series 7 its just a top shaver and best Ie used by a long long stretch [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A nice razor but a bit of a change from wet shaving

So full disclosure... I am not a regular foil razor user. I alternate between clippers and wet shave. I have not had great success with dry electric shavers in the past and often get razor burn from them, particular on my neck. So I was pleased to try the Braun Series 7 7898cc to see if I could get some better results. And from the first use I was very pleased with the results. The angle of use holding handle (almost 90 degrees to the skin) was a bit odd at first compared to wet shaving where its a lot more shallow of an angel but I soon got used to it. It was also a bit weird to start with the amount of friction you get without shaving foam. I soon got used to this and found the shave very effective and the good news was that I had no razor burn at all. I found that I had to shave more regularly with the Braun than wet shaving but that the whole process was a lot quicker. I found the razor very intuitive (in fact I didn't bother to read the manual until after first shave I was in such a rush to try it out) and the only thing I didn't work out for myself (without the manual) was what the + and - buttons were for. I was really pleased with how long the razor held its charge (a week of regular use and still well over half a charge left). Downside - I wasn't crazy about the pop up trimmer. It wasn't really up to the job of cleanly trimming sideburns. It was very safe but the rounded cutting edge wasn't very precise or effective. I ended up using a traditional razor to square off sideburns.I was also a bit surprised that I'd have to replace the cutting head as regularly as it says in the manual.
